Teton Properties is looking for a Part-Time Apartment Maintenance Technician to join our team in Chicago.

Pay: $30–$35 per hour plus mileage.

Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Part-Time Apartment Maintenance Technician to help ensure the optimal operation and upkeep of residential properties. In this role, you will perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and preventive tasks to maintain a safe, comfortable, and attractive living environment for residents.

Your proactive approach and technical expertise will contribute to resident satisfaction and the smooth functioning of each property. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on maintenance work and providing strong customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical equipment.
• Conduct repairs using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and schematics to troubleshoot issues effectively.
• Maintain building interiors through painting, carpentry, drywall repair, and other facilities-maintenance tasks.
• Repair and service electrical equipment, including wiring, outlets, and switches.
• Maintain plumbing systems by diagnosing issues, repairing leaks, replacing fixtures, and confirming proper operation.
• Conduct HVAC repairs, including filter replacement, system troubleshooting, and routine servicing.
• Follow safety protocols and comply with relevant codes and standards while performing maintenance work.
• Communicate effectively with residents about maintenance requests and provide excellent customer service.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activity, completed repairs, schematics used, and parts inventory.

Skills and qualifications

• Strong mechanical knowledge and experience with building-interior maintenance and facilities-equipment upkeep.
• Proficiency in electrical work, including electrical-equipment repair and understanding schematics.
• Experience with plumbing-system maintenance and repair techniques.
• Skill in HVAC troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to confidently operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and electrical testing devices such as ohmmeters.
• Familiarity with maintenance painting techniques and residential carpentry for minor repairs.
• Excellent customer-service skills and the ability to communicate clearly in English.
• Experience with Maintenance, Repair, and Operations procedures that support efficient facility management.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
• Leadership qualities are desirable for mentoring team members or assisting with training when needed.
• Complete other related tasks as needed.
